Sometimes I get pretty much tired of how do the most of the freelance coaches represent the freelancing. I know they need the food too and they want to earn money for living and that’s why they tell you the freelance work is so easy – to make you one of their loyal followers. “Why still working for your boss? You can be the own boss!” Sounds familiar? I’m a freelancer with about 10 years of experience and I would say this one and many other slogans are usually full of… lies. Just take a moment and think why does some “guru” want to teach you something? Are you so special, one and only? C’mon, it’s just as easy as it gets – in 99% of all cases he would need your money just because he can really do nothing, he can just talk. I just can’t stop admiring people who can “teach” somebody to “make money in the Internet” without even completing one single project! Usually they say something like “I don’t make projects, my mission is to tell you how to make them”… Aha, and the shoemaker’s wife is the worst shod. I hope you’re not so trusting to fall for it.

I don’t want to say it’s impossible to earn money in the Internet, but please don’t expect a free lunch. All those web-design and Forex gurus can fool people with fairy tales telling you anybody can just come and grab a bag of money. Not anybody. I know people who “play” with Forex, but they earn not so much and remember they learned a lot and lost a lot to get the experience they needed. I know also the people who earn a lot from their web-sites, but I tell you there’s A LOT of work behind that. Years of work, years of trying and losing. And the world will keep turning even if you lose, I mean you still must pay your taxes and rent, nobody would be interested in feeding you for your cool story about how hard you tried to make it :) I’m trying to work in this area right now and it’s hard, it takes a lot of time, sometimes I wake up at 10 AM and fall asleep at 4AM, just because I need to finish 5-8 articles a day or to finish some feature for my web-site. So you’d better think twice if you want to start working with this or it’s simply more fun for you working in an office.

You must have a certain state of mind to become a freelancer, the clear understanding of the fact that you can’t work for somebody, you’re not interested in any promotion within a corporate business and you want to make an own thing. You also must know what kind of thing you’re going to do, it’s very very very important to know it for sure. I’m going to write more about it soon, stay tuned.
