December 2012 through my Instagram

December 2012

This is how the last month of 2012 went for me – some work, some fun, some snow, some rain, some cool movies, some nice music, a little travel… a lot of cats around (my Instagram is here btw) :) Speaking about summing it all up, I can say I’ve really expected more from this year. Unfortunately what gave me awesome results in the beginning faded in no time and now I’m in the same place I was in the end of 2011. Well, ok it’s also a result :) For 2013 I already have 2 huge plans but I’m really superstitious now and can’t tell you anything. Those epic things will sure come in time… And for now I wish you a great 2013 year! Have a blast :)

Free time is a nonsense

Long time no see. Well I had not so much time for blogging recently, mainly because of work. It’s actually amazing how the freelancing changes people. Let’s take me for an example – I have no such thing as free time. If the time is free then I can easily work something out to pack it with a lot of useful action. You have nothing to do, boy? Well, let’s see, why don’t you start working on a new design contest? Why don’t you write something new for Festivallica? Why don’t you edit some new old pictures? Why don’t you just read a good book for a change? :) So the answer is no, I had, have and probably won’t have any free time for just hanging out and thinking about our mother Earth.

Moving again

Looks like we’re going to move again. Now looking for a new flat… hopefully we’ll catch something till March or April. 5 flats in 8 years, how do you like that?! :)

accounting

Accounting discoverings

That’s just incredible how multisided is the bookkeeping in Germany… Not that I would say something negative about it, but it’s pretty hard to understand, especially for a foreigner. It’s easy to live in Ukraine where the government steals everything it can steal from you – rights, money, time and dignity – and you just run your business against all the forces of evil, often underground with “black” accounting and so on – just to steal something from the government in return and stay above the ground. In Germany you play by rules and these rules are so complex the most Germans don’t really know them :) I mean I just changed by bookkeeper for the 3rd time today and I discover some major new things from every next one! Each and every bookkeeper says “Hey you do everything wrong! You should make it right – like this!” He explains his point of view and I’m like sitting there in his office and thinking “Gosh I’m stupid, why couldn’t I figure that out myself?!” :)

lazy

Lazy

For some reason remembered that I didn’t visit my DeviantArt account for about a year. If I’d want to find a reason for that I would probably start with the fact I hardly make photos now. Well I actually make them, but have absolutely no time to edit them, that’s why my gallery got so poor lately. I attend various events, make pictures and then put them on my separate hard drive where they probably just sleep till I find time for them. Zita Rock 2011 (Berlin), Wave Gotik Trefen 2012 (bands’ pictures), Zombie Walk 2012, Slut Walk 2011, Erotic Convention 2012… who knows what else?! I believe I’m just lazy. I don’t edit my pictures because I’m lazy and I’m lazy because I can drop this kind of activity without any circumstances. I’m always busy, I have not time even to talk on the phone for more than 2 minutes, but hey, there were times I did a lot more things and I had time for everything. So that is a problem to think about.

All my time goes to the work now, may be because I’m just too focused on what depends on it. No a word more – if it will ever get to my aim I’ll tell you what it was :) Yep, I’m superstitious too.

What can you expect rom me in October… More design works, several more festival profiles on Festivallica.com, a brand-new KissRussia.net web-site (sorry, for Russian-speaking fellows only) and may be – may be – I’ll finally start editing one of my untouched galleries. I hope I’ll have time.

Festivallica’s going pro

Two days ago I had to close Festivallica for a week or so, because well I didn’t like for 100% what I’ve done. It wasn’t flexible enough and functional enough to live long enough. The task is especially hard for me because I’m not a programmer and I don’t program any language, it’s simply not my thing. So I can only hope for good and look or some paid solutions, because let’s face it – not all the free stuff at wordpress.org is good and even if it works fine it looks like it’s author has never wanted somebody to actually use his product. Every single solution must be seriously changed in the visual way and I even don’t say about the graphic design – I say just about spacing between the objects, general styling etc. In 99,9999% cases they look awful. What’s great with the paid plug-ins and themes is they look great (what you saw in the demo is what you get) and you can use the normal support which is great, because if you want to make not a simple blog, but a web-site with various features and stuff you’ll need it anyway.

For Festivallica I bought a special event theme. Its look will be different, but it’s the functions what I really needed. So what can you expect from Festivallica 2.0…

The magic word “verschlechtbessern”

TAN generator deviceThere’s a great word in German – “verschlechtbessern”. It’s a verb playing with two mutually exclusive words “schlecht” (bad) and “besser” (better) and yes, I just admire the German’s tendency to make one word building it from many words :) It’s cool if you ask me. Anyway this word means “to make something worse while wishing to make it better”. Great, isn’t it? Just one word means really a lot, you actually can describe a lot of things in life with it. Like when you work with a good program and then they release the next edition saying it’s a lot better, you uninstall the previous version you had no problem with, install the new one and… it barely works. In a more global sense you can use “verschlechtbessern” with almost all the world’s conceptions. Many of them like “feminism” or “democracy” were initially great things, but well too many people wanted to make it even better and took it to the limit where was no place for common sense or fun. That’s so typical.

Thinking of another place

MalagaA year ago I was absolutely sure I was going to live in Germany for… almost eternity :) A year ago. But suddenly I understood several things at the same time:

1. It’s XXIst century, no one has to live anywhere for the whole life;
2. Germany’s cool, but (sometimes not well-founded) expensive;
3. This weather… this weather kills me the whole year… hate rain, love sun, hate rain, love sun…
4. I’m a freelancer… I’m a freelancer? I’m a freelancer! I can live wherever the hell I want!

So I began to think about it, sorting all those things out and finally understood I really need a sunnier place to be. I’m not a big rain’n'clouds fan and as soon as it’s almost all the time rainy and cloudy in Germany I began to lose my usually happy nature. If you wake up every morning and see just another gray day with about 1-2 hours of sun (when you’re lucky) it begins to change you little by little, you become a little colder and start to listen a lot of EBM music :) Fortunately Spain is right round the corner and it was my first and last option. Of course I don’t know much about the country and living there, but a couple of hours I spent on the real estate web-sites kind of opened my eyes. I took a nice and tourists-oriented town of Malaga, because you can easily (and cheap) fly to Malaga right from Leipzig and it will be just like 150 EUR for two persons.

FL Studio

Have you ever tried to do nothing the whole day?

Looks like it’s a good idea to do just nothing the whole day sometimes… What did I do today? Wrote a post for my other blog, spent about 3 hours learning FL Studio (I would like to write music at home and it seems FL is a cool solution), went shopping, ate some watermelon, watched several “Fringe” episodes… that’s it, no work involved :) And it’s so strange… I haven’t had such a day since probably 2005.

Leipzig

Just an update

Haven’t been here for awhile, so it’s just a quick update to let all the Earth know I’m fine. I’m fine! We finally moved to our new place we’re happy to be at. I’m very busy with my work and at the same time I’m happy I have all those projects before Christmas, because December-January is usually a dead season for any freelancer. I also find some time for the pictures and I really want to finish all the NCN stuff till 31. December, because you should never take your debts into the new year :) All in all the life is good!
