“Bataillon D'Amour” recorded by the band Silly and released in 1986 was a major hit in the DDR. Later, in 2000 one of my favorite German singers/musicians Joachim Witt recorded and released his own version of this song and... I love it! Actually, I heard his version long before I heard the original.
Anyway, the song is simple yet somehow absolutely magnetic. You know, the 80s were exploding with this kind of wonders but, while in the US your hit singles had to be all positive and happy, the European charts often had melancholic, experimental, even a bit dark stuff on the top 10. Enjoy!
