I adore Coppelius, and it's a shame they're so unknown outside of Germany. It's truly a tragedy, because these guys are the gold standard of the German dark rock scene! And every time I try to describe Coppelius, my explanations sound like gibberish. Basically... punk drive and Victorian elegance, played on two clarinets, cello, double bass, and live drums, and sung by several incredible voices. Live, it's absolutely insane and a must-see (by the way, I have recordings from two Coppelius performances on my channel in the "Events" section, so be sure to check them out or at least find the band on Spotify).
Covering Coppelius songs doesn't really make sense, since the band doesn't have a regular bass guitar... Well, imagine they do :) The song "Gumbagubanga" (no panic, it's just a wizard's name) is definitely a Coppelius classic, and I love it. I picked out the part by listening closely to the double bass part, and it seems that what I play is not far from what was played in the original.
